List all available taxonomic hierarchy providers in EOL. Taxonomic classifications come from multiple sources (World Register of Marine Species, GBIF, etc.) and this endpoint returns metadata about each provider including their ID, name, and description. Use this to discover which classification sources are available before querying specific hierarchy entries or to understand the provenance of taxonomic data.

Retrieve a list of available taxonomic hierarchies (classification providers) in EOL.

Usage Tips

- Returns an array of provider objects with id, label, and description fields - No parameters required - this is a simple listing endpoint - Provider IDs returned here can be used to understand which source provided specific taxonomic data - This endpoint has been observed to return 504 timeouts - retry if needed - Results are useful for displaying provider attribution in applications
